I haven't initiated "many" discussions into sincere subjects, maybe a half dozen over several years. When I do so, it is because what I see as serious commentary on how we should treat and judge our fellow man is done so in absolute contradiction to basic union philosophy. Concerns for treating individuals based on individual merits are NOT union philosophy. Life transcends the workforce, and people should be treated the same AT EVERY juncture of life. ....if one believes that people should be judged using a different standard depending on whether or not the discussion is about a job, the base for making a point in their favor is lost in an arguement that is on its very face hypocritical.
