I second Gene's welcome. As for roulette chips: although many are less expensive than $1 chips from the same casinos, some have greater value. It depends on the scarcity of the chips. Second, it depends on the supply source. If you will watch the board carefully, you will learn that there are a small group of mean spirited persons who get together as a team and raid innocent casinos seeking hordes of roulette chips. Usually one step ahead of security and sometimes the law, these merry miscreants will offer their ill gotten gains to the general public--frequenlty seeking to peddle or trade them on this otherwise clean board. Occasionally, you can get the chips only after the group has secured their releases from jail by posting appropriate bail. The art of harvesting roulettes is a devious art and engaged in by otherwise relatively normal and non felonious people, some of whom are married with children. As you may know, roulette chips remain the property of the casino, unlike chips or tokens for value. The pit bosses frown on lifting roulettes from their 25 cent games and then running them back in later when the game is up to a $1 a chip. So be especially careful with whom you deal for roulettes and do not yourself engage in roulette harvesting until you have mastered the trade.
