MAIL FRAUD CASE COMES TO AN END

In May of 1998 I reported on this BB my executed
claim of mail fraud with the United States Postal
Inspection Office (which, believe-it-or-not, is not
part of the US Postal Service) against Scott Bensyl
of North Las Vegasd, Nevada.

On August 17, 1999, I received from the Chicago
office of the USPIS, a letter stating the following:

"Thank you for your recent [15-months later]
communication relating to our mail fraud program.

The information you provided will be reviewed in
order to determine if this matter constitutes any
violation of the Mail Fraud or False Representation
Status within the jurisdiction of the Postal
Inspection Service. If additional information is
needed, you will be contacted directly. Again,
thank you for assisting us in identifying suspected
incidents of mail fraud." (The USPS provided me
copies of the 3-USPS Money Orders in the amount of
$500 each, made out to, and cashed by Scott Bensyll;
of which I included with the claim.)

Claim Ref: C/IS9008/006/S0395364/C0893146

Since it's been over one year since I received the
above communication from the USPIS, I thought to
give them a call earlier this week.

The Chicago office informed me that the case was
accepted and forwarded to the Las Vegas office of
the USPIS.

Yesterday, I called the Las Vegas office concerning
status. I was informed that the inspector handleing
the case will call me.

The inspector did call me with the following
information which will follow in writ:

"Since there is no pattern of systematic scheme of
Mr. Bensyl to determine if there was indeed an
incident of mail faud sufficient to follow through
at a higher level, there is nothing more this office
can do other than to keep on file your claim should
additional claims be filed."

When I aske what do they mean by pattern and
systematic scheme...and how many times must a person
do this before a claim moves to a higher level, the
answer was "several times."

May God bless America to be strong in order that we
can protect the crooks.

JB

P.S. There was one other claim against Scott Bensyl
which did not include loss of money, as per the
inspector.
