Re: On the issue of chapter/national ...

>>Bob; That's a good point that I've not heard before..... with respect to Ebay<<

Thanks Archie!

>>However, wouldn't you agree that the overwhelming number of Ebay offerings seen mention CCGTCC membership and logo, not local Chapter Membership. True?<<

True, most auctions mention national membership and not local membership. The local chapters serve a different purpose overall than the national club. National membership can be viewed as an asset to those dealing chips online, and I always mention my own membership in my auctions.

eBay just just one example of how the hobby is reaching more people. There are more websites devoted to chip collecting that I could have imagined just a few short years ago. As the number of people who discover our hobby increases through an evolution of communication, so should the club evolve to welcome a larger group of collectors. Chapter bylaws were written to accomodate an evolution in the hobby. ....sometimes they will need to be changed in reaction to further evolution of our hobby. Our hobby is what I place as the number 1 priority. The more people we can bring into it, the better. If some collectors don't feel that membership in national would benefit them, I'm not gonna tell them they can't join our local.

I joined national first, because I met almost everyone I knew in the hobby at that time on the old Prodigy BB's. I was wondering about chips in general. That was fine then. It isn't the same now. Requiring national membership in local chapters will cost both the hobby and the national club in the long run IMHO.
