Re: Question for CC&GTCC Candidates

Alex, I read your post and I understand your concerns. However the club is not a regulatory organization. We have no control over how the casinos store, use, or destroy their old chip inventory. While I understand the concern of a large hoard of previously obsolete chips suddenly appearing on the market and the price dropping, about the only thing we could do would be to write a casino/owner and ask that the stored chips be destroyed rather than sold to protect the collectors who have alread paid a high price.

However, see the other side of the coin. Now the club would be suggesting that a supply of old obsolete chips be purposly destroyed so that the few that managed to be in circulation/collections would now be worth a higher amount of money. Is it a good idea to interfere with fair trade? It's a no win situation. We are either advocating that the few chips that made it out the door remain at a high price in the hands of only a few privledged collectors, thus denying others of a chance to own one of these chips, or we are saying that everyone should be able to own one and forget the collector that managed to find one early and paid a higher price to be able to own one of a limited obsolete chip. The chips still belong to the casino and they do have a right do dispose of them as they wish. If they can sell them to a dealer/collector/speculator they would probably do so. It's business.

While it would be great to have a definite idea of how to handle a situation such as this, it's near impossible to control.

Jim
