Yes, RobertE just called my error to my attention. The only place I know of to get category numbers is on the 'My eBay function'. I can't give you a link because it just links to my personal eBay URL.

You can go to the My eBay link at the bottom of most eBay pages and it will lead you thorough the process. The screen you want is the one that lets you set preferences for the categories you want to see on your personal page. You don't have to actually set or change the categories, but if you click on a category name, its number will appear in the little box above. You have to do them one at a time. Sorry, but I cannot find a comprehensive list of categories anywhere on the user-accessible pages.
