The problem with screws is, they can shear too easy. As the wood swells and shrinks and twists, screws can break in the middle. Keeping the planks from blowing off in the wind is one thing, but real carpenters use nails for anything structural. That's why I like these spiral babies. They've got one hell of a grip.
