Mike; Sometimes bidders get carried away in auctions. If you get out to the club convention auction in July .... you will witness many strange bidder traits. Sometimes bidders will bid, not because they want a particular item, but because they don't want the other bidder to get it. I'm sure that's not the case with the ebay situation that you've described as those chips are readily available. If one bidder is not successful on that lot, the items can be gotten elsewhere without too much difficulty. Such is not always the case however.
