Jim; Your subject heading says, "Let's address the problem". O.K. Jimbo, I'll accept your challenge.

"The Problem", as I see it, is that this year's convention is a done deal. Come hell or high-water, there will be a CCGTCC convention held at Tropicana on July 20-22, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada. You can bet the ranch on that.... unless Trop goes out of business before the club's convention dates or, God Forbid, the hotel burns down.

"The problem" that needs addressing is that there are some folks who don't like the Tropicana for one reason or another, or some aspect of Trop's chip issuing policy, or maybe the curator of the museum at Trop, or have a dislike for some of the current club officers. That's fine.... but for C----t sake, it ain't the end of the world. There is another year ahead of us.... which means another election, which may mean new officers, and another site selection for our 2001 convention.... which in all probability may not be Tropicana.... and more problems that will need to be addressed. I don't understand why some still feel a burning desire or need at this late date to constantly carp about the Tropicana in their bb posts. It has no useful purpose other than to divide the membership and place strains on fragile relationships. The elected club officers have made their decision after weighing all the proposals and conditions from other Vegas properties, and that's where the convention will be held. Like it or hate it, get over it ... it's going to happen.

The other "problems", imagined or real, will be addressed in the next elections for those who are disenchanted with the perceived "lack of communications" from the current officers. What's to communicate? Everybody knows where and when and who the Convention Chairman is ... who certainly can't be accused of a lack of communicating. The Convention Committees have been doing their jobs to the best of my knowledge and everything is going forward rather smoothly... with the exception of negative critical posts on this bb from those who will not lift a finger to help out.. nor offer any constructive alternatives. Do we really need all this upheaval about a convention site that has already been selected and supported with a record 100+ tables already booked for the largest casino collectibles show in the world? To my mind, that IS moving forward ...(another buzzword that gets alot of attention lately).

Let's climb on board, chippers. Quell your thirst for revenge. Get with the program and support your hard working, "underappreciated", overworked, uncompensated, all-volunteer committees.... and the 2000 convention at the Trop.

The positives far outweigh the negatives. "You don't know how well you've got it until you lose it".

Have I addressed "the problem" satisfactorily, good-friend Jimbo?

To borrow a quote of wisdom from the well-known orator, Rodney King, "can't we all just be friends?"
