COIN COLLECTORS and WWII COLLECTORS HELP....

My wife and I laid my father-in-law to rest last Sept. I am just now starting to go thru the stuff that he left me. I opened a sealed box today to find a real interesting selection of stuff. Bags and bags of silver coins. Rolls and rolls of Bicentennial quarters. Foreign coins and metals and stuff brought back from WWII in Europe. Those blue books that coin collectors collect each year coins in. Proof sets from the US mint. Get the picture? I need some direction.
I seem to feel that alot of chip collectors started out collecting coins. I realize that some of this stuff, like bicentennial quarters are just worth face value, but where do I go with the rest of this stuff? Any help would be appreciated.

Best Regards,
Ralph
