Hi Archie,
"Steve and Bob; I witnessed a simlar transaction at Tropicana in Atlantic City, when a host accompanied a player.... got a $100 Trop millennium chip off the roulette table and vouchered it for the player as a comp. So, my question to you I guess, is this the same as "GIVING AWAY" to people who don't normally collect chips?"
Sort of Archie, in that the chip was just given to the VIP. The three chip set from the Midnight Rose, McGills and Brass Ass were made exclusively for their high roller slot players. We had a chapter meeting at the Midnight Rose, October if I remember right, and casino management told us about these chips, not wanting to offend us as collectors by doing something that looked like an end-around, i.e., us finding out about them after the fact, but at the same time letting us know that the chips were going to be made and given away. At that time, Lee Bruton made a suggestion that was brilliant. Make 500 $5 chips with the same artwork that the casinos had already paid for, and we collectors, by buying those chips would in effect pay for the entire issue of both the $100's and the $5's. It happened, and the only reason that it happened is we (Lee speaking for us) asked for it.
....if anyone might be wondering if its possible to actually have highrollers with a $5 max bet, Bronco Billy's MVP club awards 1 point per $4 bet. They have enough million+ point card holders to hold separate contests just for these people......!
