Re: Dealer playing with words......maybe?

Marv; If this dealer does indeed have over 800 of the Pavarotti Silver Strikes as he claims to have, could that not be compared with another dealer having 8 boxes of a particular chip and calling his 800 chips rare? To my way of thinking; because someone has cornered the market on a particular item (800+ in this case) does not make the item "rare". To me, it simply makes them "expensive" .... at the whim of what the owner wishes to charge for them.

Looking at it another way; suppose this dealer sold all 800+ pieces in his inventory tomorrow to 800 different hypothetical silver strike collectors at $50 each. Would the pieces still be considered rare ...? In my humble opinion, my answer would be a resounding NO! Of course, as usual, there are others who would disagree.... particularly the new owners of such material. After all, if this dealer sold them as "rare" back then; what's the difference now that they have all been disbursed? The quantity hasn't changed! (Yeah, right)
