Re: Y2K HOME COMPUTER TURNOVER...NOT A FIX !!!!
In Response To: Y2K HOME COMPUTER TURNOVER ()

First let me say that it is fine to set your "windows 95 / 98 option" to use the four digit calendar year. HOWEVER, DO NOT BE LED TO BELIEVE YOUR PC HAS MAGICALLY BEEN MADE COMPUTER COMPLIANT. YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING TO BE ANY MORE Y2K SAFE THAN YOU WERE BEFORE. IF IT WAS THAT SIMPLE, DO YOU THINK THERE WOULD BE SUCH WORLD WIDE ALARM.

The setting to which you refer is JUST another one of many little "bell / whistle" options that Microsoft gives you, meant strictly for your personal appearance preference. Everything I have sais here can be very easily confirmed by contacting Microsoft Corp.

Doesn't it seem reasonable that Microsoft would have made the world aware of this "revelation" if that was all it took to dodge the Y2K dilemma.

In the first place home computers will not have any REAL PROBLEM, evcept for the very limited few of us who ABSOLUTELY MUST have DATE ACCURACY in the data we produce in spreadsheet programs.

Y2K compliance is dependent on your PC's BIOS and GENUINE compliance can ONLY be accomplished by the use of a hardware card that is designed to override the information that is written into your BIOS chip, or by having your favorite PC repair shop replace the BIOS chip with a compliant chip.

NOW, I know there are those that won't believe what I say here, so be it. Everything I have said is ABSOLUTELY TRUE AND ACCURATE. PLEASE take it for what it is worth to you. I know what I am talking about!!!!

Have a really GREAT CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
