This is a defence of limits in chip issuing.

I can tell you this, no issue of 750 or more has been sold out in one day at any casino in LV for quite some time. It just don't happen any more. The Fiesta KY Derby chip sold out in 3 days and that was unsual.

My question to Josh is, did you ask for 50 each of the $1, $2.50, and $5? Or just 50 of the $1 and $2.50? I think it makes a big difference. Do you buy 50 of every chip issued?

There are several dealers servicing lists in LV. Lets call them WXYZ dealers.
They buy an average of 60 of every chip issued at every casino in LV. They don't ask - How many made - are they chipco's - are they pretty - are they ????
They don't up the number they buy because it is a 500 issue. They don't lower the number because it is a 2,000 issue. They just have regular customers to service.
They sell them at $7 & $8 per chip. This is a service to the hobby and the casino IMO. These chips do not come back to the casino.

Example of why there has to be limits set:
In your case today:
No 1 in line is the wxyz dealer you described.
No 2 is Speculator Pete.
No 3 is you.

WXYZ gets the same amount as he gets of every chip. In your case 100.
Speculator Pete asks for all that is left.
You get nothing.
Speculator Pete can't sell all of them and brings them back to the casino next week. The casino calls you and says "Josh we have your chip." You say "Yeah Right"

Extreme, yes - but it used to happen. Point is - There has to be some kind of limit.

If you buy the same amount every time a chip is issued, I bet there are a lot of casino's that will help you.

I will be issuing a $1, $2.50, and $5 next week. I will have a small limit on what you can buy. The limit will be set to protect you. I will not allow someone that normally gets 3 - $5 chips to buy 50 $1 chips. I want you to get the $1's also.
If I allow everyone in line to buy 3 - $5 chips and 50 - $1 chips, I have a lot of mad chippers on my hands.

Issuing chips and keeping everyone happy is not easy, especially with a 500 run. I don't do 500 runs for that reason. I would rather have some left over.
Selling 60 chips to WXYZ dealer servicing a list is the same as selling 60 chips to 60 indivuals.
