ADOBE STEP BY STEP

Here below is the step by step procedure for using Adobe to create and save images. I cannot provide you with a step by step procedure for transferring the images to your home page, since I use a server different from yours. But those steps have been previously posted. You will need a software program to transfer the images and I recommend CuteFtp which you can get off the web.

Below [and attached for easier reading]
is a step by step procedure for using
Adobe for scanning. I cannot give you a
step by step procedure for transferring
the files to your home page since my
procedure would not be the same as
yours. However, you will need software
to do this and I recommend CuteFtp which
you can get on the web.

POST & SCAN with ADOBE PHOTODELUXE

1) Fire up Adobe PhotoDeluxe. This is
the soft ware I use to acquire the
images.

2) Once the Program is up, click on
"GET PHOTO" on top of the program

3) Once the "GET PHOTO" is clicked,
look for the scanner button which is
somewhere in the middle of the top row
of buttons. Directly underneath that
button is another smaller button with a
tiny picture of a down arrow on it.
Click it and select "HP Precision Scan."

4) Once that is done, click on the
scanner button to start the whole scan
process. This will start the scanning
software and will take a minute or two;
during this time properly place your
poker chip or object on the scanner
surface--proper alignment and placement
now will save you a lot of hassle later
on--so be sure that the chip is placed
where you want it. On the reverse of
most chips the lettering or image is
upside down--so put it down right side
up. You can correct for this later, but
it is a nuisance.

5} Once the scanner software has
started, a screen pops up with 2 or
three choices. Select the button that
starts the actual scanning--"scan" is
the label, I think.

6) Once the scan is done you need to
CROP the image. Move your mouse past
the top left corner of the chip. Make
sure you are at least a 1/4 of an inch
away. Click down with the LEFT mouse
button and hold it down. Now drag the
mouse to the bottom and to the right
until you are about a 1/4 of an inch
away. Release the mouse button and you
will see a dashed rectangle around the
image. What is inside the dashed
rectangle is what you want. If the
rectangle doesn't look right, click once
anywhere outside the rectangle and it
will disappear. Go through the step
again until you get it right. [THIS IS
KINDA FUN, ACTUALLY, unless you are
somewhat spastic as I am.]

7) Once you are satisfied, click on
"ACCEPT" and then find the "SEND" or
"DONE" button.

THAT WAS THE HARD

PART - now for the

fun part

8) You will see a floating window
labeled "My Photos" at the bottom of the
screen showing you a thumbnail of the
image you have just scanned. RIGHT
CLICK the mouse on the image and select
"OPEN PHOTO IN PHOTODELUXE." Once the
picture is open move on.

9) The next tab after "GET PHOTO" is
labeled "TOUCH UP." Select this tab to
adjust the color. Once this tab is
chosen, click on the first button
labeled "INSTANT FIX." This will
slightly change the color balance of the
image.

10) Next click on "SIZE & ORIENTATION"
button. A new set of buttons appear.
Click on the one labeled "ADJUST." This
will allow you rotate the image if you
screwed up in placement. Follow
instructions--one button says, "ROTATE
LEFT" and the other, "ROTATE RIGHT." If
you further click on the image once, you
will see four round arrows at the
corners of the image. Click ONCE on any
of them to rotate the image in small
increments. Click away from the image
to get rid of the round arrows. THIS IS
A NUISANCE STEP and can be avoided if
you correctly place your chip on the
scanner in the first place.

11) You can also click on the "T"
Button to add text to your image at this
point. You can also click on the
percents to zoom in and out of the
image.

12) Once you are done messing around
here, click on the "TRIM" button to cut
away the excess areas in the image.
Click on the TRIM button and carefully
position the mouse [cross-hairs] to the
TOP & LEFT of the image. Click down
with the left button once, hold it down,
and drag to the bottom and right of the
image. You can adjust the size of the
rectangle by clicking on any of the
corners and move the mouse around until
you are satisfied. [This is kinda fun
to do.]

13) Once the rectangle size is correct,
click on OK.

14) Next, click on DONE to get out of
SIZE & ORIENTATION.

15) Go to the FIX COLORS button and
adjust the colors as desired. Click DONE
when ready to move on.

16) This finishes TOUCH UP.

17) Click on "ADVANCED" button which
you will find on the left side of your
screen.

18) A new set of tabs jumps up. Select
SIZE from here. Yet another row of
buttons appears and from them select
"PHOTO SIZE." It is the last button in
that row. In the resulting pop up window
change the DPI from 300 to 72 and click
OK. This takes a bit of time.

19) This ends the advanced portion.
Next we move to SEND

20) Click on the "SEND" button on the
left side of the screen. Then from the
resulting set of buttons click on
"EXPORT." This will bring up yet a new
set of tabs. Click on the "EXPORT" tab
and then click on the last button,
labeled "OTHER EXPORT." this brings up
a pop up window where you will type a
name for your file [image file.] For
example, with my ADC chip, I simply
labeled it ADC. The format is chosen by
hitting the SAVE AS button and then
selecting JPEG as the format. Click on
SAVE and that is it. Your image is now
saved as a JPEG image [eg.," ADC.jpg"]

YOU ARE NOW READY TO SEND FILES TO YOUR
HOME PAGE. I CANNOT PROVIDE
INSTRUCTIONS, SINCE I AM CONNECTED TO A
UNIVERSITY SERVER AND MY PATHS WOULD NOT
BE THE SAME AS YOUR PATHS. BUT YOU MUST
TRANSMIT THE IMAGE TO YOUR HOME PAGE.
YOU WILL NEED SOFTWARE TO DO THIS. I
USED AND RECOMMEND "CuteFtp" WHICH IS
AVAILABLE ON THE WEB AT A MINIMAL COST.
