Re: Collector vs. Gaming
In Response To: Collector vs. Gaming ()

Hi Lee,

Nevada regs do describe a chip as representing value owed by the casino on a debt. Gene has the exact wording, but to sum it up, the only way to determine the value of the debt owed by the casino for any chip is the required face value OF THE CHIP. To sell a chip at over face value renders the value meaningless and shouldn't be approved for sale, period.

Tony Cook, IMO, is apples and oranges wrong with his attitude. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that he had the early third of the release in his posession. Has anyone talked to a casino employee that received a low-numbered set? ...looks to me like the guy not only hoarded sets, but laughs at people for complaining about the over-face pricing. They did SELL enough sets to cover the release costs. The lame claim that he got bad advice doesn't wash with me. He's made his money on this fantasy set and knew what he was trying to do. THAT MAKES ME SICK! It sucks totally!
