Very shortly (Yeah, Right!!!) In one of the coming editions of "Chip Chat" my friend Doug Saito will be doing a write up on Charley Mapes and the Mapes Hotel and Casino. In previous discussions with Doug and others it has become apparent putting together a complete set of Mapes chips is not an easy task!! Certain chips, those listed and unlisted in the various guides, seem to have disappeared from dealers books. During the last few chip shows I have checked out dealers stock only to find "everyone" seemed to have the same Mapes chips. The more difficult ones are nowhere to be found. I did spot a few $100.00 die cut metal centers going for around $70.00 - $80.00. Those who are interested in putting together a complete set may find the task difficult. Just a word to the wise.
