EBAY and HONESTY

Bob Ginsburg, Florida has put forth the idea of offering the fantasy chips to the public on E-BAY as a dutch auction at $1 minimum bid plus shipping with appropriate information noted. He Has offered to babkroll the project with any "profits" (above Costs) to be donated to a designated charity.

As Bob does not have a scanner and we feel pictures must accompany this project, Jerry will be more than glad to use his scanner and donate the time to put up the pictures. We have most of the chips and if not Paul-Son is only ten minutes away.
This is a great idea, but I hope you realize something on this subject has been done before. CC & GTCC has always tried to keep collectors informed on this type of thing from the very beginning.
The first article appeared in the quartly club magazine, "Chip & Token News" Volume 6 #4,1993, page 19 and the second Volume 7 #2, 1994, Page 60. I made up a notebook with copies of these articles and colored photo copies of all the fantasy chips we knew about at that time. (back then they were dubbed as "simulated" chips).
This notebook was available at the club table at all shows and at the yearly convention for several years and this issue was discussed many times with collectors. As time passed most collectors became aware of all the chips that could be purchased for sixty cents or so each at the Paul-Son retail store.
Since there are now many new collectors, and many new sets of chips at Paul-Son it seems time has come to re- visit this subject. also now we have the medium of the internet that probably reaches more novice collectors than the club magazine does.
Ok now that I've picked myself up off the floor after reading BoB G and Jim P actually agree on something, we can get on with it. We had already planned on putting forth pictures and info on fantasy chips before this thread started. so good there will be several working on this project.

I also have the "original" "authentic" Casino De Isthmus James Bond chips, so I'm going to Paul-Son tomorrow morning and buy a brand "NEW" set so the two sets can be compared exactly for any small differances.

We should also do all this hot stamp canceled stuff, That is getting the hot stamp removed and being sold, sometimes for big bucks,as "real" chips. In my opinion after the cancel has been removed, and some are now being so neatly done its almost inpossible to see the lines, these chips are no longer to be considered real table chips and should be labeled clearly as "canceled".

The latest of these to show up is the entire set of Grand Opening Commeratives Oct 1996 Crystal Park Casino, Crystal Park, Calif. very colorful Zodiac set of 12 chips plus the 50-cent, $1, $3, & $5 regular table chips all gold canceled.
