Mel has a lot of brass...

Since Mel Jung hasn't found this bb yet, I thought I'd post the note he left on Prodigy today. Info about new chips at two places, new $2.50, all kinds of stuff. For those who don't know Mel, he is a veteran chip collector and dealer and is unique in his connection with the makers of the classic brass-core chips that so many of us like.

Leaving in the morning with 5000 new purple $2.50 chips
for the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe. These are the same dies
but in 12 gram weights and just a bit shinier with bimetal
plating. The purple closely matches the original
Borg-Warner color charts. I will be in the vault between
3-5 in the PM and the chips should be available by 6PM Tues
evening....This must have been one of the most widely
purchased chips in brass history since they have had more
than 3000 walk and there are not that many collectors!!!!
So now you have to get another to complete the set and
note the differences between the old and new besides the 4
gram difference in weight.
Also, The new Lucky Chances Club in Colma will be opening
soon with recently (Saturday) delivered $100, $500 and $1000
chips for their Pai Gow hi rollers area. These are
outstanding issues in opaque plastic over bi-metal with the
year 1998 and new designs.....Let me know how many you want
me to pick up and I will make a chip run AFTER your check
comes for payment ....add $20 per chip and pay the postage.
As you can guess, I will have only one set at my table for
sale after I pick one of each up at face. Will keep you
posted as to the opening date.

Mel also has a column now on Chequers in case you'd like to follow up.
