In 2004 it was announced that Jackie Gaughan sold several of his downtown properties to Barrick Gaming, for a reported $82 million. Though not mentioned at the time, Tamares Group was part of the group that took over the properties. The following year Barrick announced that they would sell their interest in the properties to the Tamares Group.
