“Ed Schieffelin Mining Days” is a celebration in honor of our founder. Ed Schieffelin who came to this area (Tombstone, Arizona Territory) in the summer of 1877 as a scout for Fort Huachuca.,” stated Liz Ingalls Chamber of Commerce Director. “Our event this weekend, March 29th & 30th will include contests for prize money. Folks can show off their skills for hard rock drilling, mucking, nailing and sawing. We will also be having events for kids which will include stick pony races and “panning for gems”. There will be free balloons, restaurants with special menus featuring “Miner’s Fare”, excursions to Schieffelin Monument, street entertainment, an evening melodrama at Schieffelin Hall and many great raffle prizes such as collectable guns, Indian Pottery, Navajo made jewelry and rare books. Stop by the Chamber of Commerce table on Allen Street for commemorative T-Shirts and souvenirs and to take a look at the great prizes donated from local merchants for the Saturday night raffle.
