
() The Thunderbird was one of my favorite places in the 60s and
early 70s. There was a side door on the north and a small parking
area just steps from the casino that was small by strip standards.
There was a baccarat game that used real money and a crap game
that used the old copper Michigan Tool tokens that turned your
hands black. I remember playing 21 and rat-holing red and green
fifty cent chips. There was a mechanical Mills slot machine that
had been rigged to take multiple coins, the first I’d ever seen. The
cage cashier was real friendly and I was able to get some neat old
obsolete chips. I even remember sneaking in the pool one time.
