() Here is one difference between the APPEARENCE of the difference. There's no way an outsider looking in couldn't mistake attitudes. If your keeping an objective view, for some anyway it boils down to the LOOK of: The CCA expects the club to serve it, while, it its own HEADER, the very first thing their statement says is that THEY serve the community. I wont tear up the club because in the end I believe the club can be way greater than its current posture.
John, your question to the ai in an earlier post hit the nail on the head, when you fail to mingle with other organizations and learn from them, and get stuck in some kind of "survival mode" while not adapting to new ideas and modern times, you age out. No offense to the older generation , heck I'm going to be 60 this year, but it seems "retention" and preserving the club from change and adaptation so as not to offend the "old guard" is the clubs undoing. If you want stuff to stay "the same" the world will pass you by.
At any rate, the sets community is a young group and instead of reaching out to them, it feels like they want then to adapt to their "ways" or simply reject them and the way they collect. That's NOT a winning formula. Hey, Guys, we collect casino chips!
I can only hope that these discussions keep on and while I see people aggravated that you kind of harp on the coin collector hobby I cannot say you're wrong, Just do your thing John, its not hurting anything! In coins it really seems to be hobby promotion to the world first and their organization second and they boast 25,000 members so why not learn what works from someone more sucessful?
