Las Vegas day 98
Las Vegas day 98
() I worked as a shill at the Golden Gate in 1967 breaking in on
quarter craps. Back then they used the small crown dollar chips.
I remember one of the bosses sprinkling salt around the table
to cool down the dice when they got hot. They gave away colored
plastic pens but threw away the yellow ones as they were considered
unlucky. One time the culinary union went on strike and they made
me run cocktails. There was a hof brau in the back where they sold
shrimp cocktails for 50 cents and had a guy playing the piano. On
my breaks I would go across the street to watch the Faro game
at the Las Vegas club.
