A little progress picture of one of my three themed collections. This is the smallest and I hope to add to it over time. The theme is Las Vegas inlay chips 1966-1970. The reason for this theme is three fold. It firstly centres on Howard Hughes' time in Las Vegas and the changes he brought. It secondly represents a significant shift in the career of Frank Sinatra following his 50th birthday. It thirdly, and somewhat linked to the second, represents a new cultural era both in the United States and in Las Vegas. It represents not only the growing counter culture but also the beginning of corporate Las Vegas. In both cases, I like to see how the chips reflect this. The pride of this smaller collection is the Landmark chip which has been a dream of mine for years.
I desperately need to find a way to store these. Dansco is classy but too expensive here in the UK. Next week I will post my earlier Las Vegas collection
