Thanks for the advice on merging. I was spoiled by photoshop, years ago...a couple of clicks, and the program did the work. I still have the program on my old windows 7 computer, but the photomerge doesn't work anymore .

I've figured out how to merge on PhotoScapeX, but my scanner seems to tint different areas a bit. So even if I line things up perfectly, you can still see where the merge happened. Oh well...I can live with it
