I remember hanging out at the Dirty Bird talking to
Charlie Norris, the guy who designed Kieth’s Model T
gaming token, who worked there as a shill. He’d shake
salt in his beer waiting for some menial job to do. One
time I asked the owner if I could buy ten of his dollar chips
and he asked me what I wanted them for. I said I was
a collector and showed him my binder of Winnemucca
chips so he sold me the chips. The place was a one 21
game operation that used a four deck shoe. Trouble was
they kept some of the face cards in a drawer under the
table. They got busted and the place became part of
the Sundance.
