Las Vegas day 84
Las Vegas day 84 () Hi Phil,
I usually defer to our accepted resources when I'm posting...as I understand it, those sources reflect gaming licenses as opposed to open/close dates. Fuller's Index Plus shows an end date of 1966. Could they have kept the license active, even if the business was gone???
That said...
22 E Fremont showed as the Golden Slot Club in 1955, 1956, and 1957
22 E Fremont showed as Fortune Club in 1959
No 1960 phone book available
22 E Fremont didn't show up in 1961, 1962, 1963, or 1964 phone books as far as I could find; No Fortune Club listing in those books
22 E Fremont showed up as Ace High Liquors in 1966
Alan's site showed that in October of 1961 Cecil Lynch refused to pay the rent for his Fortune Club sign. The supreme court sided with Lynch, saying that he didn't have to pay the rent because the handle wasn't working. So...if I owned the sign company, I'd take the sign down. Not sure what might have happened to the business, though.
