I remember playing dollar craps at the Dunes on my
first trip to Vegas in 1965. The table limit was $200
with single odds as were all the Strip hotel then. They were
in the process of putting up a hotel tower and remodeling
the casino. I left the table with ten blue dollar chips with
a picture of a sultan. I wasn’t collecting then and I thought
they were pretty neat but ended up cashing them in before
I left town. A few years later I started to collect and went
around to all the hotels to buy a $5 chip. I think the Dunes
was using a yellow one and the nice lady in the cage picked
out a good one for me. I started to leave and she asked me
if I wanted the brown and black ones with the sultan that
were obsolete. I didn’t want to spend the extra ten dollars
but bought them anyway.
