Re: 2026 Club Auction
In Response To: Re: 2026 Club Auction ()

Barry spoke to the alternatives for signing up and participating in the auction similar to last year (no phone required), but I'll share what I'm doing -- a combination of the HiBid online stuff with in-person live auction / bidding on June 18, coupled with in-person pick-up of my (hopefully) winning lots and paying with cash or check.

If you want to see the auction lots NOW, just go to the HiBid website address that's been posted. From your home computer (no smartphone required), you can view anytime, or do what I did, which is register, including leaving a credit card number. They (we = CCA) do a $1 test of your credit card to make sure it works for charging IF you participated remotely and won an auction lot. We (CCA) don't want to get stiffed by a bad buyer. Your $1 is returned to you.

Per Barry's post, here's the web address to register --
For pre-bidding, register online at https://casinocollectiblesassociation.hibid.com

While you can put in live bids even now, in advance of the LIVE auction night, you don't have to. I plan to attend the live auction for my bidding, as it's cheaper in terms of the Buyer's Premium. The maximum BP is 20%, but that's only if you are a remote bidder and paying by credit card and not a CCA member. For those members placing bids and winning at the live auction, and later picking up your winnings with cash or check payment at the Show, the BP reduces down to 10% -- the same BP as past CCA auctions.

I'm cheap grin so I plan to go for the 10% BP. But for those that prefer remote bidding, or paying via credit card, or for non-members who win, they're all invited to play. Just that the BP will be 20%, or somewhere less, but not all the way down to 10%, unless you do the combination of things I just described. (Hope that makes sense.)

Of course, there's always sales tax (unless you have a valid resale license on file (which I don't have). And for those who don't pick up their winnings at the Show, there's mailing costs added too. But that's always been the case.

It was a bit of a learning curve for me initially, but soon, with familiarity, I personally grew to LIKE this new process (with HiBid & simultaneous live and online auction). While I've had more exposure to it that some -- I've been involved in some of the getting up to speed stuff -- I'm by no means a tech whiz. I'm just an "Old Timer" chip collector. grin If I can do it, I think most anyone can.
