Why Did I Provide New Issue Chips at Face Value?

With the opening of table games at the Resorts World NYC Casino at Aqueduct I provided newly issued chips at face value plus shipping. Not the first time that I have done this. No profit for me. Why?

The answer takes me back to the early days of chipping. With only a couple of dealers back then, most of my collection was built on trading with collectors in other parts of the country. We traded face value for face value. That's how we all became friends. Friends that were able to get together once a year at the convention. And that followed an earlier tradition, before the CCGTCC and before there were any chip catalogs, of trading chips, my pile of chips for yours.

I provide the chips at face value to go back to the early days. It is not about profit, it is about building a collection and making friends. It would be so nice to bring back those early days again. See you at the convention, friends.
