() Luis, that chip is from the Cosmo Club in Reno, Nevada.
ChipGuide has it listed as CG031285, obsolete, $5 denomination, issued 1956, orange with 3 black inserts, on the DiaSqr mold. There is also a matching/related $20 Cosmo Club chip, CG031286, that uses the same Chinese characters.
As for the characters, they appear to be 萬國 / 万國, usually read as “wan guo.” That basically translates to something along the lines of “all nations,” “many countries,” or “international.” So I don’t think the characters mean this was a Chinese, Macau, or overseas casino chip. It seems more like a branding/theme choice that ties into Cosmo / Cosmopolitan, meaning worldly or international.
Funny enough, I actually have a history video on the Cosmo Club on my YouTube channel, but I honestly don’t remember if I got into the meaning of the Chinese characters specifically in that one.
Value-wise, it’s a neat old Reno chip, but not a big-money piece. Most of the sold examples I’ve seen seem to be in the $15–$25 range, maybe $30ish to the right Reno collector depending on condition.
Cool chip though, and mystery solved. It’s an old Cosmo Club Reno $5, not Macau.
