BOULDER CLUB CHIP STORY

The year was 1994, it was the second year of the annual chip convention at the Las Vegas Riviera Casino. It was my first year as a chip dealer at the convention. I was sharing a table with my 2 good friends Lynn Brooks, and Barry W. About the first hour of the show another friend of mine Jim Gillette showed up with his famous shopping bag of casino chips. I had a good relationship with Jim we had done quite a few chip deals over the years. So he gave me first look at the chips he was looking to sell. I picked out about 15 to 20 chips that I was interested in. The 2 chips I remember most was a $5 mustard Arodie chip with the Dam inlay, and a $200 Las Vegas Club LCROWN chip. Jim wanted $250 for the Boulder Club chip, and $150 for the Las Vegas Club chip.

I bought all the chips he showed me, including the $5 Boulder Club for ($200 ), but I passed on the $200 Las Vegas chip it was drilled and I have never liked drilled chips. Well needless to say my good friend Barry was crazy about the Boulder Club chip. After about an hour of bugging me. He literally begged me to sell him the $5 Boulder Club for his personal collection. As a friend I sold him the chip for what I paid for it $200.

Fast forward about 7or 8 years Barry decided to sell the chip. He sold the chip for $34,000. The chip that is presently on the Chip Guide is the exact chip I sold to Barry. No regrets it was all part of the hobby back then. The chip hobby was alot more fun back in those days.
