Re: grin BAM!!! Winner!!! Excellent Job!!! grin

Yes, that email is correct.

It took a minute for my brain cells to kick in but I did recall it as a Reno $5 early Chipco LE. My only double-check was to confirm if it was either the original MGM Grand-Reno or its successor Bally's Reno. (I knew the building though!) I have the chip in my collection from when it was first issued.

A quick history -- When Chipcos first came out, they were quite striking - nothing like it before. First, there was the El San Juan series in Puerto Rico (issued in 1988, though it took a while to obtain one), then this Bally's Reno series (1991) and a Harvey's Tahoe commemorative soon after, with many more to follow. The art-forward graphics on these early series of Chipcos made a splash among chippers who had only experienced chips with various molds and center-inlays, not with graphics all the way to the edge.

I even recall a conversation about them with Janice O'Neal like it was yesterday, even though it was actually 35 years ago +/-.

Thanks for the memory ... and the raffle tickets too! grin
