Las Vegas day 15
BARBARY COAST H & C
0202 S. 1st St.
Las Vegas
3/1/66-5/30/66
You might not know that the Barbary Coast featured in yesterday's post was the second Barbary Coast in Las Vegas...
The first Barbary Coast was located where the Hotel Elwell had operated for about 17 years. According to Fuller Plus, the Barbary Coast was licensed for slots, blackjack, craps, and a big 6 wheel. They were only open for 3 months...and the glass and matches shown below are the only artifacts that I've seen from the place. After the Barbary Coast Hotel & Casino closed, the location was occupied by the Pioneer Club Hotel, which was followed by the Golden Hotel, before being purchased by the Golden Nugget. The building was demolished and was replaced by the Golden Nugget's parking ramp.
