I received an email from South Point today, advertising a promotion they're running -- 10% off prevailing rates & $25 slot credit, plus a couple other things. I'm sure it went out broadly to a boatload of people on their email list(s). I'm not a high roller that gets big discounts or comps. Mostly, I just stay there annually for the convention and earn a few points on my player's card.
Just for fun, I compared the email discount offering, which includes our June convention dates, with the price I'm paying for my 6 nights at South Point using the CCA discount code.
The result is that the CCA is getting a meaningful discount beyond what South Point is discounting in their email offer. The CCA code equates to an ADDITIONAL 22% discount (or 20% if you deduct for the $25 slot credit, which is kinda "funny money"). In dollar terms, it equals a $36 to $40 PER NIGHT savings in using the CCA code vs. the rate in the South Point email promotion. And I just stay in a regular room; nothing fancy.
Let's see ... at $40 savings x 6 nights = $240 savings (which I'll promptly spend on chips on the Show floor!!!
)
Personally, I hope we're successful in obtaining favorable terms when we do the 2027 negotiation with South Point. Even though they have the big Bowling event and the Horse show / Rodeo, etc. going on, it seems that they still have room available for a smaller convention like ours, since they're offering a concurrent promotion to their email list customers too.
Just thought you'd like to know. (Or is it TMI = too much information?)
