Why not monthly subscriptions at $5 a month?

My husband and I buy stuff on Amazon...we don't pay for any kind of membership.

BUT...if there's a sporting event that he wants to watch, streamed by Amazon, we buy Amazon Prime for a month. Even though we don't need it for a month.

A couple of years ago I subscribed to Kindle Unlimited. That doesn't entitle me to anything except relatively unlimited access to the books that qualify. I still have to pay if we want to watch a streaming event. I still have to pay if there's a "Prime only" item that I want to buy.

So....just tossing around ideas here...

If someone wants to get the chipguide for $5 a month, let them. That doesn't entitle them to the magazine or any other club benefits.

If they want to use the chipguide a lot, they can buy a club membership for $40 a year and can save $20 (compared to 12 months at $5 a month). That entitles them to the magazine and any other club benefits, as well as unlimited use of the chipguide.

It would be awesome if we had enough money to give everything to John Q. Public for free...we don't.
