Interest in the Sets world.....

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the many members who have reached out over the past few days with questions about sets collecting. I’ve received several emails and messages asking how sets are built, why collectors do it, and how it fits into the broader casino chip hobby.

This weekend I wont be available much as we have the annual State Hockey Tournament and Ill be busy with my "zebra suit" on refereeing the U18 games but I wanted to note:

I really appreciate the curiosity and the conversations.

For those who may not be familiar, sets collecting generally focuses on assembling the full group of denominations that would be used together on a gaming table. Many collectors build playable sets for home games or tournaments, but in doing so they often end up learning a great deal about chip molds, manufacturers, casino history, and the stories behind the chips themselves.

In many ways it leads people down the same road as traditional single chip collecting, just from a slightly different starting point.

There had been some discussion earlier about possibly doing a short presentation at the convention this year explaining sets collecting and answering questions from members. Unfortunately it didn’t come together in the scheduling this time around, but based on the interest I’ve seen lately it might be something worth revisiting in the future.

I think the more we understand the different ways people enjoy this hobby, the stronger the hobby becomes.

Thanks again to everyone who reached out and took the time to ask.

"...cbip hobby." That's an excellent term.
