Thanks for posting. I didn't know that Caesars was "in play". But public companies are often changing hands if it makes sense to the market. I was surprised 5-6 years ago when Eldorado Resorts of Reno (the Carano family+) acquired Caesars. Changed names to Caesars since it was better known, but still runs it out of Reno.
If Tilman Fertitta is successful, then Golden Nugget and Caesars will be related. And of course, the Fertitta family is well known as gambling operators including the Station Casinos brand and predecessor names, and going way back to the Galveston TX days.
Personally, I like having someone at the helm that has gambling in the blood, so to speak, rather than a bunch of nameless bean counters. Going back to basics, I always liked Benny Binion's adage, expressed in an online post as:
"Binion was known to be generous to patrons, and said he followed a simple philosophy when serving his customers: "Good food, good whiskey cheap, and a good gamble."
And please ... take a fresh look at the crazy resort fees and parking fees!
Good luck to Tilman Fertitta.
