Need the Wisconsin collectors to weigh in on this chip. What was it used for? Ho-Chunk Golden Nickel did not have roulette until 1993 and by then the casino was names Ho-Chunk Gaming.
Some history:
Before the casino opened in October 1993, the Ho-Chunk operated a bingo hall and tobacco shop in the Wisconsin Dells/Baraboo area. Those early operations were Class II gaming (primarily bingo-style games), which did not include traditional casino table games like roulette.
Roulette became possible only after:
The passage of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) of 1988, and
The Ho-Chunk Nation signed a Class III gaming compact with the State of Wisconsin in the early 1990s.
Once the full casino opened in 1993 as Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells, Class III table games — including roulette — were permitted under the compact.
