Barry,
In response to my comment about releasing early ballots, you mentioned that members may want to get their votes out of the way.
That's an insane attitude to take.
This election needs to be addressed seriously, not treated as some chore to be done with. You need board members who will do more than be yes men or voices of disdain. How will you get the best persons for the position if no one has heard what the candidate's position will be on helping the Club? We dont need maintainers. We need leaders.
There is no clear mandate that the ballots have to come out immediately. Look at our government election process. Candidates campaign for their positions for a set period, and then you can release the ballots for tabulation. The election cycle is stated, but it does not mention that the ballots must be released at the start. Give the membership a chance to see and hear the candidates fairly.
No one really knows what our club officers and committee chairs are doing. For transparency, each Board Member must submit a monthly report on the website, specifically informing the membership of their work. Not some lollypop canned statements.
This is especially needed for the Vice-President position, as there are no set duties as outlined in the Constitution. This might eliminate the negative comments. Especially concerning the MoGH, as their activities aside from the Chip Guide are nonexistent.
You have a chance to get the help you need and transition the Club for a better future. Don't lose this opportunity.
Jerry
