Yeah, that reminds me of how I should have taken snapshots when I landed there the first time, because it was lined with slots and I bet they have modernized a few times since then. Not as old as that, and I admit my first time to Las Vegas was probably 1980, so I'm still a new kid on the block.
No great mystery or trip notes. We took Funjet, packed like sardines. Stayed at Circus Circus. Table games, chips? I didn't even save a token from the slots.
But back on topic, kind of, I'm old enough to have flown prop planes as a kid. Family vacation on something big, maybe a DC-something. Eras popping and pressure, it was an experience in itself. Then later I have a postcard from a Super Constellation. And in college, Ozark airlines flew turbo props in the Midwest. We walked out to the plane and up the steps in the 60s.
But here's something to go with the card: McCarran International Airport opened in January 1943 as Alamo Field. It was later renamed McCarran Field in December 1948. It officially became McCarran International Airport in 1967. I hope that helps with the postcard. Nice!
