I’m a Las Vegas fan first, and a fan of Steve Wynn as a very close second. With that said, would I be so enthralled with Vegas as I have been ever since my parents first took my brother and I in the 80s, subsequent trips in the 90s, and the many trips as an adult in the late 90s to today if Steve Wynn chose not to invest is entire life into Vegas? The answer is a loud and astounding No. I would like it a lot, maybe even love it, but it’s because of What Steve Wynn did to Las Vegas coupled against the backdrop of all things Vegas not associated with him that it’s my favorite city of all time. It’s that marriage of Las Vegas and Steve Wynn that gave us the Las Vegas we have today. Well really up to the years where you still mostly had founder owned and lead, ala Jay Sarno, ala Kerkorian that Vegas came into it’s most magical decades, from the 80s up to around 2016-2018. That 30-35 year span Vegas thrived. I’m not taking anything away from its early days, 1880s-1970s. The magical years where the mob ran it, Siegel, Sinatra, Elvis, not taking any of that away. How can I, I only know what I know from lived experience being born in 1979. But I consider myself very fortunate to have lived and thrived in Las Vegas during Wynn’s reign, and they were other worldly. This is a great video and thank you for sharing. The presenter/narrator did an amazing job at poeticizing his legacy in a very short video. There are many great videos out there. My 3 favorites are the 2 Charlie Rose interviews and my all time favorite is from the 2017 Hospitality Design Expo in Las Vegas where both Steve Wynn and Roger Thomas, the man behind the stunning Wynn interiors dating as far back as The Golden Nugget are guest speakers telling the audience their story and inspirations in a +/-60 minute lecture.
