Doug Smith pointed out that this is the first time in many years that so many positions have been running contested (more than one candidate).
To me, this doesn't indicate dissatisfaction and a desire to change. It tells me that the work and the change of direction we've taken has enthused members who may have been more lackadaisical about the operations of the club in the past.
I look forward to a more engaged electorate as well. I'll be very curious to hear how many people vote in this election.
To all candidates running for office, thank you for stepping up. And to the incumbents, thank you for maintaining your interest in helping run the club.
To the masses, I want to thank you all for the great air of civility that has returned to this board. I trust that this will continue throughout this election. Support your candidates but do not bash their opponents. Let's continue uplift each other in this process and we can look forward to increasing interest in members wanting to pitch in when they see more progress.
In the end, there will be no losers in these races. Each and every person running for office has a place in the upcoming administration to help. Heck, you can all start right now and show that you mean what you say when you tell everyone you want to help the club thrive. Add something notable to your resume while you still can!
Open positions include:
-- Promotions/Merchandise Director (pending, subject to advice of the board to the President and some kind of regal decree by yours truly)
-- Raffle Chair
