Roy Quilici built and opened the Quilici Bar in 1940 at
424 E. 4th st. It became the Reno Bar in 1945 (moved
from the 2nd st. location) and was Reno’s first gay bar
in the sixties. In 1970 it became the Rumpus Room
(moved from Virginia and Liberty sts.) and is now
Abby’s Hiway 40 bar. I don’t remember the Reno name but
visited both Rumpuses and Abby’s.
