I don't blame CBS if they pitched a fit back then, but times have changed. A massive proportion of the streaming rights for sporting events in many cities (like the broadcast network for the Detroit Red Wings, in my hometown) are inextricably tied to gaming companies like FanDuel, and formerly Bally. It's mainly naming rights, but there's a potential for an ownership interest. Broadcasters now thrive on the connection to gambling for the advertising money they can make
