More about those Diamond mold chips

Those relatively new diamond mold chips (with faceted diamonds) caused me to check out the FAQ page on Chip Guide and elsewhere.

Here's what I found (may be more info than you wanted to know! grin )

1. Chip Guide shows 4 different Diamond patterns, all referred to as "Diamond". See:

2. The classic Diamond mold is the 2nd one, with 26 small diamonds around the rim. An old mold, originally supplied through Jack Todd Co. (per Herz reference). Later, from other distributors or perhaps an "open" mold that multiple distributors could order and have made at the Burt Company & successors in Maine?
3. The "faceted" diamond mold, of recent discussion, is the 3rd one down. See Jim F's recent (Jan 29) post on some roulette chips at The Orleans in Las Vegas using this mold.
4. The other 2 examples of Diamond molds in the ChipGuide FAQ -- I haven't seen & know nothing about.
5. As to naming, the mold is sometimes called "Diamond", occasionally abbreviated as "DIA" or "DIAMND" and Herz further describes the original 26-diamonds mold as "Radial Diamonds".
6. The original mold makes an appearance in all the chip books, from Herz to SSS(Chip Rack) to Campiglia & Wells, and even the Borland Blue Book.

OK, that's all I know. TMI?? grin
