I wrote an article about the Texan Club owner (before we went to Nevada) in the CCN's Summer 2023 issue (Buffaloed in Texas). John Boortz ran an illegal place in Algoa, Texas (outside of Galveston). The Texas Rangers harassed him until he packed up and moved to Winnemucca. Not long after opening the Texan Club, he was killed in a high-speed car accident.

Needless to say, he didn't have the best luck.
