This place was originally a meat market and then
the Mint which Joe Mackie bought when he first
came to town in 1954. He sold it to three Texans
in 1958 who only operated it for three months.
Photos of the Texan are hard to find but this chrome
postcard shows it in the distance. It was later Kirkby’s
Bingo club and finally the Red Bull. I think it’s still
Ben’s Liquors.
