() Michael, I do see your point, but its not so easy for anyone to get their chips slabbed these days.
When this discussion started years ago, we did have some grading/slabbing companies come in, wanting to talk about starting a chip division. The club as a whole said we didn't want slabbed chips and we would not work with them. The companies needed our expertise and guidance to bring it in. We said not only would we not help them implement it, but that they were categorically not welcome. (For some reason I thought we said they were not invited to convention, but I'm not sure if that was the club's stance.)
I know there was another anti-slabbing "Pledge" that was signed by many people (maybe around a hundred) who pledged they would NEVER buy a slabbed chip, and would never buy ANY chip from a dealer who dealt in slabbed chips. In essence, anyone who dealt in slabbed chips would be blacklisted.
With all that, the grading companies left us alone. If you wanted to get a chip slabbed now, I don't know who would do it. And if they did, they aren't trained so I don't know if there would be any point.
